The Supreme Court of Cassation overturned the life sentence handed down to 34-year-old Margareta Buffa, originally from Romania, who admitted that in complicity with Carmelo Bonetta, she killed 25-year-old Nicoletta Indelicato in 2019, also of Romanian origin, the Italian news portal writes. Today. The young woman was stabbed 12 times, partially burned and buried.
Nicoletta Indelicato was murdered on the night of March 16-17, 2019 in San Onofrio.
The three heroines of the story, all Romanians, were friends: two girls were adopted by families from Marsala. The motives for the murder have not been fully clarified, although it seems that they are related to jealousy and resentment. Nicoletta Indelicato would have a brief flirtation with Bonetta, who had meanwhile become Margareta’s lover. Carmelo Bonetta, 39, who confessed to the murder, was finally sentenced by the Supreme Court of Cassation in April 2022 to 30 years in prison for the murder of Nicoletta Indelicato.
Bonetta told investigators that he hid in the trunk of the car in which Margareta took Nicoletta to the Sant’Onofrio neighborhood and jumped out with a knife in hand when his friend stopped the car. However, he later added that he only stabbed the victim three times. Buffa allegedly inflicted the other stab wounds.
Margareta Buffa, however, would say that she did not participate in the murder, that she lost consciousness after the first knife attack.
The reasons for the annulment of the sentence by the Supreme Court are still unknown.
