On Monday, Russia put the president of the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Pole Piotr Hofmanski, on the wanted list, but without specifying the reason, AFP and Agerpres reported.
“Wanted as part of the investigation of criminal proceedings,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in the database of wanted persons, TASS and RIA Novosti report.
This spring, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin for his involvement in the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children. Although Russia is not a member of the ICC, the arrest warrant restricts the Russian president’s freedom of movement.
For this reason, he had to refuse to participate in the BRICS summit organized by South Africa in August.
ICC prosecutor Karim Khan was also added by Moscow to the wanted list in May.
Without specifying the crime in which Khan is suspected, the Russian authorities accuse him of “initiating a criminal case against a known innocent person” and “preparing an attack on a representative of a foreign state.”
“Date of birth: March 30, 1970. Place of birth: Edinburgh, Scotland (…) Wanted under the article of the Criminal Code,” says the note, referring to him from the Russian wanted persons database. , without specifying the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which he allegedly violated.
The International Criminal Court accuses Vladimir Putin and the Russian Commissioner for Children’s Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, of war crimes in the “illegal deportation” of thousands of Ukrainian children and their transfer from the occupied territories of Ukraine to Russia, an accusation categorically denied by Moscow.
