It is essentially a martial art, a mixture of wrestling, dance, music and popular culture, which is part of what defines our humanity in general.

In Brazil, it is a mass sport, as well as one of the traditional symbols of the country, or better said, an important cultural manifestation of the interaction between Africa and Brazil. Capoeira as an African art and culture, transferred and transmitted by the slave communities brought to Brazil, adapted and practically reinvented in the 1800s, and today we are already talking about a sport known all over the world.

Capoeira manages to combine self-defense, acrobatics, dance and music in an amazing way, and in the country of samba, it becomes and officially receives the name of the national sport of Brazil since 1974. Thanks to its sporting characteristics and art, as well as to the growing number of practitioners and followers, capoeira takes another huge step, becoming since 2014 a cultural heritage protected by UNESCO.

And in the good tradition of the national slogan “Ordem e Progresso”, there are now more than 7 million capoeira practitioners in Brazil, making the sport second only to soccer in the country.

Capoeira is a sport that fascinates you at any age, whether you are three years old, twenty or forty.
