Romania’s women’s national table tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the European Championship after beating Spain 3-2 in the quarterfinals.

Elisei Samara’s victory took Romania to the EC table tennis semi-finals

After beating Serbia in the round of 16 with a score of 3:1, Romania also won in Spain.

Bernadette Shox opened the series with a 3-0 win over Maria Berzoza (11-3, 11-2, 11-9).

Then followed the defeat of Eliza Samara in a match with Maria Xiao with a score of 3-2 (5-11, 11-4, 6-11, 11-7, 11-9).

After another defeat of Andrea Dragoman against Sofia Zhang 3-1 (15-13, 11-5, 5-11, 11-7), Romania turned the fate of the match in its favor.

Bernadette Schock outclassed Maria Xiao 3-0 (11-4, 11-7, 11-5) and the qualifying win went to Eliza Samara, also 3-0 against Maria Berzosa (11-3, 11- 9, 11-4).

In the semifinals, Romania will play France for qualification in the last act of the competition.

The Romanian women’s national team ranks 4th in the list of the most successful players selected for the European Championship, where they won 5 gold, 6 silver and two bronze medals. The last medal was in 2021 in Cluj-Napoca, where Germany beat us in the final.
