Top 6 players will miss WTA Guadalajara

The tournament in Mexico starts on September 17, just one week after the 2023 US Open concludes, and many of the top players will not make the main draw.

The last major name to withdraw from Gudalajara is Iga Sviatek, the athlete who lost her WTA No. 1 ranking (eliminated in the round of 16 at the US Open).

“Unfortunately, I have to withdraw from the tournament in Guadalajara due to changes in my schedule. I have to listen to my body and after such a busy season, our number one priority is to finish the season healthy.

I have to plan wisely so I don’t risk injury. I am sorry that I will not be there, but I am sure that the atmosphere in Guadalajara will be incredible, as I remember it. See you in Tokyo” – Iga Svyatek on Twitter.

Top 10 players who will miss WTA Guadalajara: Aryna Sabalenko (1), Iga Svyatek (2), Coco Gauff (3), Olena Rybakina (4), Jessica Pegula (5), Marketa Vondrousova (6), Karolina Mukhova (8) ) and Caroline Garcia (10).

23 of the world’s top 51 players have withdrawn from the WTA 1000 so far (Sorana Kirstya is also on that list).
