A 28-year-old driver was caught red-handed in Sibiu when he tried to bribe a police outfit with €200. He had been drinking and was pulled over after he was spotted driving at 112km/h in the city while overtaking.

Judicial police officers from the General Anti-corruption Directorate – SJA Sibiu, under the coordination of the prosecutor from the prosecutor’s office at the Sibiu court, on Sunday arrested a 28-year-old man in the act, who handed the police 200 euros to the crew, with the aim of attracting police officers to failure to take legal measures in connection with detection of traffic violations.

A young man overtook on a continuous lane at a speed of 112 km/h, and after a breathalyzer test, the police found that he had consumed alcoholic beverages, News.ro reports.

“In fact, two police officers from the Sibiu IPJ – Medias Municipal Police, Traffic Bureau and Public Order – stopped a car that was overtaking the continuous lane at a speed of 112 km/h at that location. , and after checking the driver with a breathalyzer, it was established that he had consumed alcoholic beverages, 0.52 mg/l of pure alcohol was recorded in the exhaled air,” the DGA said in a statement.

The moment was captured using a body-cam device provided by one of the crew members.

Two police officers reported the crime to the Anti-Corruption Service of Sibiu County, and judicial police officers began investigating the crime of bribery in flagrante delicto.

The person was taken to the headquarters of the prosecutor’s office next to the Sibiu court for further investigation.

DGA representatives note that only in the last week, police officers from the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police informed the General Anti-Corruption Directorate about five situations in which they were offered different sums of money as a bribe.
