The property tax is a “hot potato” in the government coalition, Finance Minister Marcel Bolosh said on Digi 24 on Monday evening, clarifying that it is being discussed at several levels, News.ro quoted.
“Property is protected by the National Liberal Party, because it is at the heart of the liberal doctrine, and it is natural for every party to fight for the main elements of the doctrine and not deviate from them,” Marcel Bolos said on Monday night on Digi 24.
The Minister of Finance clarified that the discussions on the property tax are being conducted at several levels.
“The discussion is being held at different levels. First of all, the first level of discussion concerns the value of the property. Another level of discussion concerns the share of this property tax. Then another level of discussion, arguments “for” and “against” that this real estate tax should be abolished or that this real estate tax should remain,” the minister noted.
However, he explained that the property tax is a hot potato of discussions in the coalition, and no agreement was reached.
“I would not like to comment on a topic that is a hot potato. When there will be a consensus… After all, this is an issue on which, with arguments “for” and “against” from the coalition parties, a decision will be reached (…) It is appropriate to announce when the decision will be final from the coalition party. But, I repeat, discussions continue on three levels: the value of real estate, both aggregate and individual, the property tax rate and whether this property tax should be introduced or not with arguments “for” and “against”. These are the topics that are hotly discussed in the coalition. Let’s see how all this work will be completed,” the minister also noted. (News.ro)
