
A man wearing a T-shirt with police insignia and carrying a reflective stick was photographed trying to stop vehicles on a county road in Maramures on Saturday.
After posting the image online, Maramures police have identified themselves and identified the man they are investigating for the crime of usurpation of official duties.
- “Police officers from Tirgu Lepus were notified on duty yesterday, September 2 this year, following some postings on the Internet, which revealed that a 42-year-old man from Rogoz was photographed on DJ 171C wearing a T-shirt with the words “Romanian Police ยป and a reflective stick. It would simulate the stopping of vehicles”; the Maramures County Police reported on Sunday. The police informs that after establishing the identity of the man, further checks are being carried out on the fact of committing the crime of usurpation of official qualities, an act provided for and punished by Art. 258 of the Criminal Code.
