A Russian guerrilla group claimed responsibility for Sunday’s drone attack in Kursk, Russia, Sky News reported.
The pro-Ukraine Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC) said it had “once again crossed the porous border without obstruction” before striking a military airfield.
“All intended targets were destroyed. We emphasize: legitimate goals that brought pain and death to peaceful Ukrainian cities,” the group’s Telegram message reads.
It is noted that the operation was carried out jointly with the “military counterintelligence of the SBU” – the Ukrainian intelligence service, but the SBU has previously stated that the RVC is an independent Russian secret group.
Who are RVCs?
The RVC made headlines in May and June when it launched an incursion from Ukraine into Russia’s Belgorod region and captured several soldiers.
The militia was founded by a far-right Russian last summer and consists of Russians who fought in and for Ukraine.
