The White House said the US is concerned that arms sales talks between North Korea and Russia are “moving forward”.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu recently visited North Korea to persuade officials to sell Moscow artillery munitions, Washington’s national security spokesman John Kirby said, according to Sky News.
Vladimir Putin also exchanged letters with the country’s leader Kim Jong Un, promising to intensify bilateral cooperation, he added.
According to these agreements, Russia will receive weapons that the military plans to use in the war with Ukraine, Kirby said.
The deals may also include raw materials that will help Russia’s defense and industrial base.
If agreed, the deals would violate UN Security Council resolutions.
