The government will approve at the meeting on Thursday providing financial assistance to families and people affected by the explosions on August 26 in Krevedia, which killed two people and left dozens with serious burns, some of whom were transferred to hospitals abroad.

The explanatory note states that emergency assistance will be provided for the following purposes:

  • a) coverage of transportation, accommodation, food and other unforeseen expenses during the hospitalization of the wounded abroad for the family/companion of the wounded person;
  • b) coverage of transportation, accommodation, food and other unforeseen expenses during the hospitalization of the wounded in the country for the family/companion of the wounded person;
  • c) coverage of part of the damages recorded in affected households/dwellings;
  • d) support for families where death is registered.

Financial assistance will be provided in the following way:

  • EUR 2,000/month for family members who accompany victims during hospitalization abroad
  • 2,000 lei/month for family members who accompany the injured during their hospitalization in the country
  • 1,500 lei for the wounded who were hospitalized and discharged

The draft resolution of the Government states that the financial assistance provided for in the first two cases will be allocated for one wounded comrade.

A companion means a spouse, parent, child, grandchild, or other relative.

For households affected by the explosionas in the case of other similar situations, namely floods, for which emergency assistance was approved by Government Decree No. 559/2023, it is proposed to provide emergency assistance in this situation as follows:

  • 10,000 lei for single people and families whose houses/households are proportionally more than 75% affected, including;
  • 7,000 lei for single persons and families whose houses/households are affected in proportion between 50%, including 75%;
  • 4,500 lei for single people and families whose houses/households are affected in a proportion of 25%, including 50%;
  • 2,500 lei for single persons and families whose houses/households are affected in a proportion of up to 25%;
  • 1,500 lei each for single persons and families whose household/household property was damaged, regardless of the number or type of property.

For situations in which deaths have been recordedthe family of the deceased person additionally receives a payment of 7,500 lei for each of the deceased members.

  • The same amount will be received by the families of victims who, due to the severity of burns and related conditions later dies.

Considering the seriousness of the situation, the draft decision of the Government also regulates the following aspects:

  • one-time sums provided for escorting victims during an explosion in the country or abroad will be used by satellites without further presentation of supporting documents.
  • These amounts will be provided by the district payment authorities and the social inspection authorities, respectively, of the municipality of Bucharest at the place of residence/accommodation of the companions, at the request of the latter.
  • Assistance will be provided within 5 working days from the moment of submission of the application, confirmation of the place of specific processing with notification of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – State Emergency Service, Ministry of Labor. and “Social Solidarity” – National Agency for Payments and Social Inspection.
  • nominal emergency aid to cover part of the damages recorded in the households of residents of Krevedija commune, Dambovitsa county, is approved by a note of the Minister of Labor and Social Solidarity on the basis of receipts drawn up by the District Payment Agency and the Social Inspection of Dambovitsa with the support of the county emergency committee;
  • by derogating from the provisions of Art. 37 and 38 of the methodological norms for the application of the provisions of Law No. 416/2001 on the guaranteed minimum income, approved by the Government Decree No. 50/2011, with subsequent amendments and additions, for the provision of this emergency assistance, it is not necessary to fill out an application from the affected family/person, with the exception of assistance provided to comrades and families of persons who later died, as well as about conducting a social survey;
  • emergency aid payments will only be made to a bank account for one-off payments made to comrades, and for aid given to families whose households have been affected, as well as families where a death has been registered, the payment can be made either in cash, directly to the owner, or to a bank account, in which case the owner will express his choice in writing on the basis of a declaration of his own responsibility.

Latest report on explosions in Crevedia

​4 victims of the double explosion that occurred on Saturday evening at the gas station in Crevedia are still in serious condition – about 3 patients are hospitalized in a hospital in Romania, and one has been transferred to Milan, Italy.

A further 22 victims are in a moderate or light condition and have been admitted to hospitals across the country, while the number of patients discharged after being injured in the fire rose to 19 today, according to the latest balance sent by the Ministry of Health.

The number of deaths (two) and patients hospitalized outside the country (12) remains unchanged.
