Toyota has temporarily halted car production at all of its factories in Japan due to a serious computer problem that prevented the company from ordering all the necessary components. The Toyota Group is the world’s largest manufacturer, producing more than 11 million cars a year.
About one-third of the cars produced by Toyota in the world are produced in Japan, where about 13,500 cars are produced per day.
Because of this “glitch” in computer systems, production was halted at 14 plants with a total of 28 production lines on Tuesday.
The company says it has no reason to suspect a cyber attack. Last year, due to a cyber attack, production was suspended for a day.
After a very difficult period, 2020-2022, Toyota’s production in Japan increased by 29% in the first half compared to 2022.
