This time we have no more concerts or big music events in Bucharest. Instead, we have a variety of newly opened playgrounds, open-air cinemas, world-famous bicycle races and aerial acrobatics.

We’re also kicking off this series of recommendations with a new specialty cafe that recently opened in town. Cafe-bar NOÍ (Calea Șerban Vodă 180A) comes with a proposition that presents not only good coffee from DROPSHOT Bakery, but also delicious breakfasts, brunches and hand-crafted ice cream to customers who cross its threshold.

Also, this place is the perfect place when you want to pose for your Instagram account. It’s also quite close to Carol I Park, so you can walk there after breakfast as well.

If you want to try a variety of Italian street food that’s less common here this weekend, you can do so at Frigola (Popa Nan 105). This is a small restaurant that took courage and made a bet on: arancini, a Sicilian specialty.

Thus, they offer to the curious this dish that is hearty and delicious and has the potential to become more and more common in Bucharest. Arancini are rice meatballs that can be filled with a variety of ingredients: chorizo, mozzarella, stew, vegetables, and more.

It is said that this dish was traditionally created to provide a full meal for Federico II di Suevia (King of Sicily from 1198) when he went hunting.

If we are still talking about Italian street food, then a newly opened place that respects this specificity should be added to the list: MO Mortadella panini (Calea Victoriei 114).

Obviously, this is the place in town to enjoy the best mortadella panini. These dishes are prepared by Ana Demian, who was also a Masterchef Romania finalist. So, on your next walk down Calea Victoriei pedestrian street, make your way here.

As the heat wave outside seems to never end, it’s normal to want to open up newly opened terraces or summer gardens. Fine, Heavy Yard (Vasyl Laskar 38) it recently appeared in the landscape of Bucharest, and that’s for sure. The place is owned by Aluziva and her husband, and many events take place here, both for children (plays) and for adults (parties, concerts and open mic nights and stand-up).

We have another recently opened summer garden in town, this time on the banks of Loch Tay and a bit more feminine. It is about Indigenous population / Space for the soul (Tuzla 50). The place looks very beautiful both during the day and at night, when the garlands of lights and firewood are burning near the tables. However, the prices are quite high – 70 lei for a burger, 50-60 lei for a salad, 20-26 lei for a beer.
