“I can personally answer that we did not have a meeting of the National Political Bureau: I did not know about the idea of hiring responsibility. But I think it’s less important whether I knew it or not,” said Alina Gorghiu on TVR Info on Thursday evening.

According to her, there are three ways to adopt these reforms, as well as any other regulatory acts. The first concerns legislation through an emergency ordinance, and the Justice Department had “several objections” to issuing an emergency ordinance on two legislative aspects because “there were clear risks of unconstitutionality.” The second option would be a bill that is debated in parliament, and it continues, regardless of whether it is proposed by the government or parliament. The third option is responsibility.

“The urgency is justified if we really want to reform the administration in Romania, but for me, as a politician, I tell you that the way in which it will be regulated is more important: that it be an agreement on responsibility, that there be a draft law, that if you want it to pass through the bill as quickly, the package of measures you take through these initiatives will be important,” Gorgiou added.

She claimed that, according to the liberals, “it was a mistake” what she called a “leak into the public space” of the draft regulatory act on administrative-fiscal measures.

“I didn’t see any option. In case of liability, this project will have to be developed by the Ministry of Finance and will still go to the Ministry of Justice for approval. When I have a form that will definitely have to be accepted by this coalition, because otherwise you won’t be able to get support at the level of the parliament, I will definitely voice my opinion publicly,” Gorgiou explained.

Prime Minister Marcel Čolaku announced Thursday at the opening of the executive session that the government will take responsibility before parliament for a legislative package aimed at reforming the state apparatus, fiscal balancing measures and measures to combat tax evasion. “I will submit my mandate to the parliament. Nothing scares me! I will not yield even a millimeter, despite the pressure of those in the system,” said the prime minister. He also stated that we must divide the waters and Romanians will be able to see who really wants to reform and move this country forward, and who is against and fighting for privileges and the rich. “I believe that this is the way, and I inform you that I will firmly move forward,” Cholak wanted to clarify.

NLP spokesman Jonuts Stroe told News.ro on Thursday that the decision to take over the government was discussed, agreed and established in the coalition. He clarified that the reason for assuming responsibility is as pragmatic as possible, since “we are in a situation of real urgency to apply measures so that they have the desired effect in these last four months of the year.”
