In recent years, Romanians have become very interested in electric mobility, and we see more and more such cars on the country’s roads. They are perfect for the city, but when it comes time to take them on a long trip, on vacation for a week or two, people are reluctant. Can you safely drive your electric car for a long trip? Answer: absolutely yes!
If you are the owner of such a vehicle, wish to purchase one, or are simply interested in how to prepare for a long trip in an electric vehicle during your summer vacation, Rompetrol specialists have prepared some useful tips for you.
First of all, when planning your route, you need to consider the map of charging stations. It is best to install an application on your phone that will show in real time which stations are working and whether they are free or not at a certain time. Therefore, a smartphone is a must-have accessory for vacationing on an electric vehicle.
Calculate the charging time and see what amenities are around the stations: are there any shops nearby, are there gas stations, or find other ways to pass the time while the car is charging. Charging can take tens of minutes, so it is important to know what we do with this time. Also, charging your car at night is a very good idea.
Drive efficiently
Experts advise not to allow the battery to be completely discharged before recharging. This is because there is a risk of not having a station when we need it.
You should also not neglect the aspects related to any car in general, be it classic or electric. Thus, the car must be in perfect working condition, and before going on the road it would be good to carry out a short repair. Tire condition is also very important, as is visibility. We must have clean windows and mirrors. Headlights are also very important for safety and we as drivers have a responsibility to check them before we even set off.
Don’t forget air conditioning, which is vital when traveling in the summer. But it should be taken into account that frequent use of the air conditioner also leads to higher consumption, that is, to lower autonomy.
At the same time, to increase autonomy, it is important to drive efficiently, as in the case of fossil fuel cars. It is best to try to maintain a constant speed, do not accelerate sharply and brake smoothly.
At the national level, Rompetrol manages a network of 482 gas stations (own, partner and express gas stations), 25 of which have charging stations for electric cars.
This year, the company opened 11 new gas stations on the A1 highway, Nădlac-Sibiu section, and in each of these places, electric car owners have two electric charging stations with a maximum capacity of 150 kW (four charging points at each gas station).
While you charge your car at Rompetrol stations, you can enjoy good coffee, a fresh sandwich or a hot meal at gas stations opened under the hei coffee&gourmet concept.
