Alina Rotaru-Kottmann brought Romania the first medal at the World Championships in Athletics in Budapest

Alina Rotaru-Kottmann, after qualifying in the long jump final, brought Romania its first medal at the World Championships in Athletics in Budapest.

The 30-year-old athlete jumped 6.88 meters in her last attempt in the long jump and won a bronze medal.

The test was won by the Serbian Vuleta (7.14 meters), and Davis-Woodhall (USA – 6.91 meters) won the silver.

Alina Rotaru-Kottmann has already reached the length scale for next year’s Paris Olympics at the Inneringer Weitsprung Meeting.

Also on Sunday, Andrea Miklos qualified for the semifinals of the 400 meters with the 19th time of the series, 51 seconds 24/100. The semi-finals will take place on Monday evening.

Romania is taking part with 16 athletes, nine women and seven men, at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest (August 19-29), an event where the Romanian Athletics Federation has set a goal of reaching three finals.
