Police believe Lucy Letby, the nurse convicted of killing seven babies, may have injured dozens of other babies at two hospitals in northwest England. Guardian.

A source close to the police investigation said detectives had identified around 30 babies who had suffered “suspicious” incidents at the Countess of Chester Hospital, where she worked.

Letby, 33, was on duty every time those babies got worse. Police are also examining the medical records of babies born at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, where Lathby used to work.

The 30 babies, who all survived, are in addition to the 17 babies who were counted in the 10-month trial at Manchester Crown Court.

Lathby is expected to be jailed for life on Monday after being found guilty of killing seven babies and attempting to kill six more in a “persistent, calculated and cold-blooded” attack.

She was found not guilty of two counts of attempted murder, and jurors were unable to decide whether she tried to kill the other four infants.

Cheshire Police asked experts to examine the medical records of more than 4,000 babies born at Liverpool Women’s Hospital and the Countess of Chester between 2012 and mid-2016.
