The gendarme from Kostinesti, who immobilized the bandits on the beach, a former fighter of the Foreign Legion, has been in the spotlight these days after the scandal caused by six tourists. Many people have appreciated his intervention and are even asking for a raise. And the singer Mihai Merginianu appreciates the one who created “Cocalarii de Costinești”.

The gendarme who silenced rioters on the beach on the most festive day, in front of dozens of tourists who called the police after the thugs attacked two men, has the gratitude of many. He probably became the most beloved member of the Romanian Gendarmerie, who was often insulted, as was the case at the protest on August 10, 2018.

Messages of support for the young man continue to appear on social networks. Some people seem to feel vindictive about this episode for what the “bombers” did to them. And others want his promotion and salary increase.

A video of the law enforcement intervention and a photo of the gendarme intervening with his shirt torn have been shared thousands of times on social media, accompanied by messages of support.

Singer Mihai Merginianu wrote a message in which he congratulates the gendarme, who quelled the brawlers, who remind him of the characters who disgust him in our country.

• “Kostinesht 2023, summer in intense heat.
• I thought about it and realized that the gentlemen “cocalari de Costinești” who were running the news stations for a few days, EXACTLY (but EXACTLY!) I don’t like in Romania.
• And yes, I really don’t like the pot-bellied young man in dusty flip-flops drinking beer (or soda in a plastic cup) by the kiosk with his chimpanzee “mates”, whistling to the “kids”, listening to some manel (and not silently) . ) and who, emboldened by a few drops of alcohol in his blood, throws himself at everything, swears expertly at anyone who looks more washed up, and makes horrible gestures with his own organ to various gentlemen or ladies.
• As a boy who grew up in this environment, somewhere on the outskirts of Pantelimon, where I left WITHOUT looking back, I understand that these unskilled people are not very good at fighting either. Their movements are often aimless, without form and direction, and often without result.

Thugs taken under judicial control

According to local media, the gendarme who immobilized thugs in Kostineshti was a Foreign Legion fighter and believes he was just doing his job and shouldn’t be in the spotlight.

Four of the six bandits were placed under judicial control after a judge from Mangalia decided that they did not pose a social danger and there was no need for arrest, Replica Online reported.

The men were opened in two cases: one for beatings and other violence, as well as for violation of public order, and the second for insult.

The four were detained for 24 hours, and when they left the police detention center, they were outraged by the fact that they were being filmed and began to speak obscenely and express themselves.

Local media reports that some of the men have a criminal past, including in Germany.

Beaten by law enforcement agencies “from scratch”.

According to Euronews, two of them were previously convicted or under investigation for violent acts.

Relatives of the men told the mass media that the law enforcement officers beat the men by surprise.

Surveillance cameras recorded the moment before the fight with the gendarmes and the police, when the thugs attacked first the homeless man, then the young man who rushed to his defense.

After a fight that ended in handcuffs on the beach in Kostineshti, an investigation was opened into the intervention of the gendarmes.
