During the two hours spent in front of the investigators, the young woman, with the help of a lawyer, appeared quite confused and gave conflicting answers about who could be the father of the newborn. She said that she never thought about terminating the pregnancy, that she hoped she could keep the baby, and that she gave it up because she was afraid of losing her job.

“A moment of confusion and disorientation, caused by the fear of losing the nanny’s job in Taranto,” was how the woman explained her decision to abandon her child.
