Doctors and police in northwestern France were shocked by the case of a 29-year-old woman who was raped and tortured by an 18-year-old man, local media reported. A case of “rare atrocity”, say investigators about the tragedy that happened in Cherbourg.

On Friday, August 4, a 29-year-old resident of Cherbourg was urgently hospitalized at the Pasteur city hospital. A young woman has just become the victim of a brutal rape. His multiple and extremely severe injuries shocked the medical staff. The woman was in serious condition and is in an artificial coma.

According to Le Figaro, the victim, who was attacked by the aggressor with a 75-centimeter broom tail, had perforations of the colon, small intestine, peritoneum and diaphragm, as well as a pneumothorax and rib fractures.

To date, the young woman’s prognosis is still reserved, and a team of psychologists has been appointed to assist the hospital staff who saw the victim, writes France Bleu.

When the ambulance arrived at the victim’s residence, she told the police that she had just been beaten and raped, telling investigators that the perpetrator was a man “whom she had seen before, but whom she did not know.”

Thanks to the trace left on the door, the investigators quickly found the attacker, Umar N., an 18-year-old boy with a rich criminal past, despite his young age.

Umar N., born in 2004, is known for cases of violence and, according to Le Figaro, citing a police source, the young man is also at the center of a case of sexual violence against his own 4-year-old younger sister.

Oumar N. was remanded in custody on Thursday, August 10, and ended with a “concise admission of the facts that can be attributed to him”, as announced by the magistrate from the public prosecutor’s office in Cherbourg.
