The TASS information was confirmed by the press service of the prosecutor’s office of Tatarstan, the region of Russia where the attack took place, as a result of which 9 people died and 23 were injured.

On May 11, 2021, Galaviev, who was 19 years old at the time, entered the school, where he had been a student a few years ago, armed, but was stopped at the entrance by security who demanded a card to enter the educational institution.

He opened fire when a guard at the entrance tried to stop him, but the injured guard managed to press the panic button at 9:25 a.m., setting off an alarm that alerted teachers and police at the same time.

It is believed that the number of victims would have been much higher if this event had not destroyed Galyaev’s plans.

Although teachers were warned to lock their classrooms, not all did, and the young man managed to enter several classrooms, shooting at students and in the corridors of the school.

He occupied classrooms one by one, climbing from the first floor of the school to the third floor, where he killed 7 victims in classroom 310, which was left unlocked.

The whole attack lasted only 8 minutes, until Galyaviev ran out of ammunition. He tried to run away from the scene, but in the meantime law enforcement officers arrived at the scene.

During the investigation, prosecutors discovered that he had legally purchased a semi-automatic weapon in April, just two days after obtaining his gun permit. Immediately after the attack, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a review of Russian weapons legislation.

Galyaev admitted his crimes by pleading guilty and was sentenced to life in prison in April this year after undergoing several psychiatric tests to determine his sanity.

The young man, who had no criminal record, posted a photo on Telegram on the morning of the attack in which he was wearing a mask with the word “God” and wrote alongside the post that “today I will kill a huge number of people.” bio-waste and shoot himself.”

What is known about the prison “Black Dolphin”.

The penal colony in the Orenburg Region is one of the oldest prisons in Russia, its nickname comes from the sculpture of a black dolphin inmates in front of the main entrance.

Initially, the term “black dolphin” was one of the prison slang used to refer to prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment.

Prison IK-6 is home to some of Russia’s worst criminals: pedophiles, criminals, terrorists, cannibals and serial killers. All prisoners here are serving life sentences.

Prisoners are kept in solitary confinement in cells locked with three metal doors. They are allowed to exercise for 90 minutes a day in a large cage. They are kept under 24-hour surveillance, forced to stand during the day from the moment they wake up to the moment they go outside (about 16 hours a day).

Jailers blindfold newly arrived prisoners so that they have no idea about the structure of the prison. They are also blindfolded every time they are transported between different buildings.

The guards here have a unique method of escorting prisoners: they are kept bent at the waist while one of the officers ties their hands behind their backs, above thigh level.

This method of convoying allows the guards to control the convicts as much as possible, while they see almost nothing around them, thus preventing any attempts to escape or attack the prison staff.
