Former President Donald Trump’s main challenger in the 2024 Republican primary election, Ron DeSantis, fired his campaign manager on Tuesday, AFP and Agerpres reported.
The Florida governor, who conservatives have pinned their hopes on after their party’s disappointment in last year’s general election, leads the 70-year-old Republican by nearly 40 percent, according to RealClearPolitics.
Under the crosshairs of multiple investigations, Donald Trump has entered the race for the White House claiming he is the victim of a Democratic-led “witch hunt,” a hypothesis shared by many of his supporters.
The Republican billionaire claims to have raked in millions of dollars from each of the indictments in the media spotlight.
The changes in Ron DeSantis’ campaign team were announced a few days before the first Republican primary on August 23 in Milwaukee.
“We are delighted with these appointments,” the campaign group said in a press release.
The winner of that primary will face the Democratic presidential nominee in November 2024, most likely President Joe Biden.
