Trains will run at reduced speeds on certain sections of the Bucharest, Craiova, Timisoara and Cluj regional railways due to a heat wave, which could lead to delays of tens of minutes depending on the route, CFR SA announced on Tuesday.
According to CFR Călători, starting at 14:35, train traffic on the Videle – Redulesti section was temporarily suspended, the line was twisted.
Sections of train traffic with speed restrictions
At the same time, a speed limit of 70 km/h is used at the regional level in Craiova, as well as on the Pajura – Henri Coanda Airport and Bucharest Nord – Titu routes.
The Bucharest Nord – Videle – Giurgiu route operates with a speed limit of 50 km/h.
CFR Călători warns that these restrictions may cause delays in the company’s trains from 5 to 40 minutes, depending on the sector covered.
On the Galaţi and Iași regional lines, rail traffic is operating under normal conditions, with no speed restrictions at the moment, and on the Konstanz and Brasov regional lines, speed restrictions have been introduced on only one CF interval each, namely between Tendarei and Movila (SRCF Konstanz), respectively between Augustin and Albesti (SRCF Brasov).
- “We draw your attention to the fact that in the intervals when the air temperature already exceeds 35-37 degrees, the operational staff of the railway infrastructure constantly conducts additional audits on the network, directly checking the track, measuring and constantly recording temperature changes at the level of the track, and in the intervals , when the temperature on the track at individual station intervals exceeds 50 degrees, the speed of the trains is reduced by an average of 20-30 km/h compared to the normal speed, so that the railway traffic takes place in conditions of complete safety.
- We would also like to clarify that this measure of limiting the speed of movement during periods when the temperature at the level of the track reaches 50 degrees is used by all infrastructure companies and complies with the rules of railway safety in such special situations ( . ..)
- We apologize to passengers if the trains they travel on arrive late at their destination, but these speed limit measures on certain train intervals are necessary to maintain optimal and safe conditions on the rail network,” the CFR said in a statement. S.A.
The company recommends that people ask for information about the arrival and departure times of trains at CFR stations, at the ticket offices of the transport operator from whom they purchased or wish to purchase a ticket, before traveling.
