For years, drivers driving the A1 highway from Bucharest to Pitesti knew that at the end of the road, in Bascov, the highway would suddenly turn left and become a national road, congested and difficult to drive. Meanwhile, work has started on the extension of the A1 to Courtes de Arges, and the Bascov junction is being transformed.

In the pictures taken from the drone, you can already see the traffic restrictions at the end of the A1 highway in Pitesti, as well as the work started on the reconfiguration of the Baskov interchange.

According to the plans, the final configuration at the site will have the freeway on a flyover crossing the intersection, which will remain on the ground as a large roundabout.

Also in the same place in Bascov, where the A1 motorway will continue towards Courtes de Arges with a flyover and in the area the ring under the highway will have two lanes, on one side the Maintenance and Coordination Center ( CIC ) will also be built for the whole purpose of the road infrastructure.

For this purpose, CIC will construct another roundabout on DN7 directly next to the highway.

Take a look at the plans below to see what the final configuration of the Basque road interchange will look like. Click on image to enlarge.

How the A1 section of Pitesti – Kurta de Arges will look in the end – 3D presentation of the project

The contract with Astaldi for the 30.35 km A1 Pitești Curtea de Argeș was signed in May 2020 after almost three years of tenders and appeals, and is worth around €356 million and involves 12 months for design and 48 months for execution.

As can be seen in the 3D visualization of the project, made together with the technical project, the highway passes through the floodplain of the Argesh River and the protection zone, as well as near the reservoirs on the route and the body of the village. the highway is elevated along its entire length. Almost no road crosses the highway, but passes under it.

The video starts from the area of Curtia de Arges and continues along the route to Pitesti and the future Basque junction.

Highway A1 Pitesti – Curtia de Arges: “The section is not easy, although it does not cross rough terrain”

The Italians from WeBuild (formerly Astaldi) have been working on the 30 kilometers from Pitesti to Curtia de Arges since September 2021 and currently, according to the latest information centralized by CESTRIN, the physical state of the works has exceeded 33%.

The implementation period is four years, so completion should take place sometime in 2025.

“Indeed, the party is not easy. It is more than 30 km long and, although it does not cross rough terrain, the route passes through swampy and/or flooded terrain adjacent to the accumulations at Argesh. This means very high embankments (passages), countless footbridges and more than 5 kilometers of bridges and viaducts on the route (we do not take into account the passage through the A1 and at the junctions),” said the Pro Infrastructure Association.
