A shelter that accepted elderly people and which operated illegally, in the documents of the accommodation facility was presented as a boarding house, was discovered in Pietrošany, in the Teleorman county. 17 elderly people hospitalized there were taken under control and taken to medical facilities, News.ro reported.

  • “On July 13, the police of the Economic Crime Investigation Service of Teleorman, Zimnytsia City Police and Department No. 12 The rural police of Zimnicei arrived at the building in Pietroshani commune, Teleorman county. After checks, 17 elderly and disabled people were found in this building, which functioned as a boarding house,” the Teleorman District Police said on Thursday evening.

The checks carried out by the investigators showed that the building where the elderly were staying belongs to a 47-year-old woman from the city of Pietrošani and, according to the documents, it is the headquarters of a commercial company that was founded last September and has its own object of the accommodation service.

The people found in the illegal cell were taken to medical facilities, and their relatives were contacted. This company was fined 12,000 lei.

The police opened criminal proceedings on the facts of unauthorized employment in a profession or activity and tax evasion, and also notified other control bodies to carry out inspections, each in accordance with its competence.
