About 200 Russian soldiers and the commander of the occupied city of Tokmak were killed in a recent attack on a Russian base, a Ukrainian official said, according to CNN.
“Our forces successfully attacked the positions of the occupiers in Tokmok,” Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov reported on Telegram.
Fedorov is in occupied Ukrainian territory, and his claims cannot be verified, but he claimed that intelligence had hit a Russian base at a factory in the city.
There is no way to confirm these claims, and there is currently no visual evidence of an attack on the plant. However, a pro-Russian social network said on Tuesday that “the Armed Forces of Ukraine massively bombed Tokmak. 6 shots were previously recorded.”
Volodymyr Rogov, a Russian-appointed official in occupied Zaporizhzhia, also spoke about a series of explosions in the city on the same day, posting a video of fires in an open area that could not be geolocated.
Ukrainian forces regularly shell Tokmak, as it is an important hub of Russian defense.
