The match between Market Vondrousov and Ons Jabert in the final of Wimbledon-2023
After a tense match that lasted two hours and 22 minutes, the player from Tunisia reached the final in London for the second time in a row.
But the victory was far from easy in front of the main favorite, who remained at the competition.
The first set was even, and both athletes went head-to-head to the tiebreak, although Sabalenka always led and Zhaber came back each time.
After a tied tiebreak, despite the Tunisian leading 4-2, the Belarusian won her first set 7-5.
The second set started with Ons Jabert leading, but after three consecutive games won by Sabalenka, last year’s finalist won the set and turned the match into a decider.
In the third set, Jaber regained control and, after winning three straight games, allowed herself to miss four match points, not enough for the Belarusian player to jeopardize her victory.
In the finals of the Wimbledon 2023 tournament, Ons Jaber will meet the Czech Marketa Vondrousova (42 WTA), who in the semifinals beat the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (76 WTA) with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
At Wimbledon-2022 Ons Zhaber lost the final action of the competition to Olena Rybakinia with a score of 6-3, 2-6, 2-6.
In case of reaching the final in London, Aryna Sabalenko would dethrone Poland’s Iga Svyatek from the top of the world ranking.
