The head of the Ilfov District Police resigned on Tuesday evening, Digi24 reports citing official sources. The head of the IPJ Ilfov and his deputies were under investigation in the context of the “horror shelters” scandal. According to the quoted sources, after his resignation, two of his deputies, as well as the leadership of the Volunteer Police, should be replaced.

Official sources told Digi24.ro that the resignation of Chief Commissioner Cristian Pershinaru was the result of an investigation launched by the IGPR Control Body at the Ilfov Police Inspectorate following the “shelter of horrors” scandal in Voluntar.

The Volunteer Police is also under investigation, as a result of which, most likely, the leadership there will also resign.

Digi24 recalls that on Monday, after numerous revelations about the inhumane conditions in the shelters in Ilfov, the Minister of the Interior, Catalin Predou, ordered to send specialists from the Control Corps of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police (IGPR) to the District Police Inspectorate (IPJ) of Ilfov, as well as in the police stations Volunteers and Afumati.
