Romania’s U19 handball team scored a huge win over Sweden on Tuesday night (42-34) at the European U19 Championship.

Romania hopes to advance to the semi-finals after defeating Sweden

The Romanian handball team won its first victory in the main group at the European U19 Championship, beating Sweden with a score of 42:34.

Romania, who qualified from Group I (main group) with 41-33 wins over Iceland, 30-26 against Portugal and 35-30 against Germany, faced Sweden in the first match of the main group.

The tricolors won at the end of a great match, in which Alicia Boychuk became Romania’s top scorer with 11 goals.

According to the results, the tricolor team scores the first 2 points in Group I. The leader is Portugal, with 4, after the victory, also on Tuesday, against Switzerland, the score 38-25. There are also 2 in Sweden and 0 in Switzerland.

On Wednesday, Romania will play in the company of Switzerland, and Portugal will play against Sweden.

Also on Tuesday in Group II, Hungary – Montenegro 28-25 and France – Denmark 29-30.

The top two places qualify for the semifinals scheduled for Friday, followed by matches for places 5-8 and the final on Sunday, News.ro said.
