Victoria Azarenka hit one of the spectators at Wimbledon-2023, but not on purpose, but found out about it only after the end of the match with Daria Kasatkina.
With the score tied at 1-1 in the second set, Victoria wanted to make sure Daria couldn’t come back and hit so hard that the ball bounced over the fence and hit a spectator watching the match from the side court.
At the end of the match, Azarenka shared pictures published by the organizers: “Oh… Sorry, friend.”
Although the player from Belarus did not want to hit a spectator, netizens recalled similar events involving Novak Djokovic (US Open 2020) or Mia Kato (Roland Garros 2023): “Djokovic would have been kicked out of the competition for that.”
