Spain’s far-right Vox party has proposed repealing current laws that allow abortion and euthanasia, according to its election manifesto published on Friday, Reuters reported.

“We defend the right to life from conception to natural death,” said the 169-page document, which was published at the start of Spain’s election campaign on July 23.

In December, the Spanish Parliament passed a law on sexual and reproductive health that allows 16-17-year-old girls to have abortions without parental consent.

Vox said it was repealing the so-called transgender law passed by Spain’s leftist coalition government in December, which allows transgender people aged 14 and over to legally change their gender without the need for a psychological or other medical examination.

The law also says that 14- to 16-year-olds will still need the approval of a parent or guardian.

Vox also said it would increase parental control over any sex education in schools to give them the right to object to what children are being taught if they think it’s inappropriate.

Income tax would be simplified if Vox came to power, with a lower rate of 15% for those earning €70,000 a year and 25% for those earning more.

The right-wing party has promised a naval blockade to prevent illegal migrants from crossing the sea from Africa by boat to the coast of Spain.

Vox, which is the third-largest party in Spain’s parliament with 52 seats, is a possible coalition ally of the conservative People’s Party (PP), which currently leads the polls, ahead of the ruling Socialist Party.
