​The College of Dentists of Romania announces on Friday the cancellation of two decisions published last month in the Official Gazette, which limit the duties of dentists and those specializing in dental-alveolar surgery. The two decisions sparked protests from dentists who complained they were not consulted before they were passed and published in the Official Gazette and demanded a change in the management of the College of Dentists.

“Taking into account the situation that arose due to an error in the text of Decision No. 2007 4/2CN/2023 regarding the approval of the competence of a dentist, respectively, a specialist dentist in the specialty “General Dentistry” and Decision No. 5/2CN/2023 on the approval of the skills of a specialist dentist in the specialty “Dental-alveolar surgery”, submitted for publication in the Official Gazette of Romania, the National Council of the College of Dentists of Romania (CMSR), a professional organization with powers delegated by the state authority in the field of authorization, control and supervision of the profession of dentistry as a free profession authorized by public practice, meeting in plenary on July 7, 2023, unanimously approved the cancellation of these decisions,” according to a press release from the College of Dentists, cited by News .ro.

The management of the college of dentists unanimously decided to adopt new decisions “of similar content regarding the competencies of a dentist, a specialist dentist and a primary care dentist in the specialty “General dentistry”, respectively in the specialty “Ortho-maxillofacial surgery” included in the Decision of the National Council no. 49/2012 regarding the approval of the qualifications of a dentist, including a specialist and a primary doctor in general dentistry, respectively, Decision No. 50/2012 regarding approval of the competence of a specialist and a primary doctor in dental alveolar surgery.”

The National Council of the College of Dentists, which voted to overturn the two decisions, consists of members of the National Executive Office, one representative from each county college of dentists, 3 representatives from the Bucharest College of Dentists, one representative appointed by the Ministry of Health as a public authority and one representative from each ministry and central institution with its own health care network (Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Foreign Intelligence Service). , Security and Protection Service, Romanian Information Service, Special Telecommunication Service).

Following public appearances by the Dental Trust and after many professionals in the field called for a change in the leadership of the College of Dentists and a limit on the number of seats at the head of this body, CMSR wanted to publicly express its appreciation for the participation of professionals in the field.

Dentists protested on Friday against the management of the College of Dentists in Romania, accusing it of issuing two decisions that are already having results since they were published last month in the Official Gazette, decisions that limit the rights of dentists. The representatives of this profession demand, in addition to the cancellation of the two decisions, the resignation of the National Executive Office of the college, the limitation of the number of powers in its management and the publication of the transcripts of the meetings at which the decision was made. relevant solutions are discussed.

The Ministry of Health considers the dentists’ protests justified against the decisions of the College of Dentists of Romania, which limit their right to practice, and has announced a meeting with the management of the college.
