Arsenal of London announced on Thursday that they have parted ways with Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka after seven seasons with the Gunners.
At the age of 30, Xhaka played 297 matches for Arsenal, scoring 23 goals.
Having joined the Emirates from Gladbach in 2016, the Swiss wanted to return to the Bundesliga, and Leverkusen will pay the Englishmen around 25 million euros for his services.
Granit Xhaka is the captain of the Swiss national team, the opponent of Romania in the selection for Euro-2024.
“We cannot thank Granit enough for his service and contribution to this club over the years. We wish him and his family all the best and happiness in the future,” the club reports on its official website.
