Saudi Arabia will host this year’s Club World Cup, with the games taking place in Jeddah, according to an announcement made on Monday by FIFA, which will inspect the official arenas.

The competition will be held from December 12 to 22. This will be the first time the tournament will be held in this country.
“We believe that hosting international football competitions of this level provides an opportunity to raise the level of our game and inspire our fans and players,” said Saudi Arabia Federation President Yasser Al Mishehal, according to Agerpres.
Saudi Arabia, like Qatar, which is hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, has been widely criticized for its human rights record, but the country has tried to host as many international sporting events as possible to downplay such accusations.
Saudi Arabia may even bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
