Bianca Andreescu (WTA 35) exited the WTA 500 in Berlin in the first round after losing to Marketa Vondrousova (WTA 53), 7-6(0), 7-5.

The player from the Czech Republic needed only two sets and one hour and 42 minutes to reach the second round.

The first set reached a tie-break, where Andreescu suffered a decisive defeat: 7-0.

The second set was spectacular, with the Canadian leading 4-1, Vondrousova clawing her way back to 5-4, missing three match points, but eventually managing to avoid another tiebreak.

In the 1/8 finals, Marketa Vondrousova will meet the German Jules Niemer (120 WTA), who is coming from the qualification.

The German Open is a WTA 500 tournament that takes place on grass in Berlin. The tournament will be held from June 19 to 25, and the total prize pool is $780,637. Even Ons Zhaber became last year’s champion.
