Shoigu, who visited a military plant in the Omsk region (Western Siberia), “set the goal of continuing to increase the production of tanks,” according to the press release of the Russian military.

According to the minister, this is necessary “to meet the needs of Russian forces carrying out the tasks of a military special operation” in Ukraine, the message also states.

Sergei Shoigu also emphasized the need to increase the safety of armored vehicles and their crews, the same source reports.

This inspection is taking place in the midst of a Ukrainian counter-offensive aimed at the return of Russian-controlled territories in Ukraine, AFP notes.

Moscow continues to insist that this counteroffensive failed. On the other hand, Kyiv claims to have liberated several cities and about a hundred square kilometers, mostly on the southern front.
