British police said they were responding to an “ongoing serious incident” in the central English city of Nottingham, which has led to the closure of several roads, with images on Twitter showing cordoned off areas and a large presence of emergency services, Reuters reported.

“While the investigation of the incident continues, several roads are closed throughout the city. “Pedestrians and drivers are asked to avoid these areas and use alternative routes,” the police said.

Tram network operator Nottingham Express Transit (NET) said all its services had been suspended.
