Venus Williams will return to the tennis courts at the WTA grass court competition in S-Hertogenbosch (Libema Open). In just a few days, the multiple US Grand Slam champion will turn 43 (June 17).

Venus Williams returns to the WTA tournament after almost 43 years

Having reached the 696th place in the WTA hierarchy, Venus will again go on the world circuit on Tuesday, where she will beat the Swiss Celine Naef (17 years old, 202 WTA) in the first round of the Libema Open. Of course, he received a wildcard from the organizers to participate.

Venus last played in an official match earlier this season at the WTA in Auckland in early 2023 (she was beaten by Lin Zhu 6-3, 2-6, 5-7 in the second round).

During her career, Venus triumphed seven times at Grand Slam tournaments: five times at Wimbledon (2000, 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2008) and twice at the US Open (2000, 2001). He played in three other major finals: 2003 and 2017 at the Australian Open and 2002 at Roland Garros.

The Libema Open is held from June 12 to 18 on grass, is a preparatory tournament for Wimbledon, is in the WTA 250 category, has a total prize money of $259,303, and the last champion is Kateryna Aleksandrova (in 2022).
