Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said on Saturday that the Russians are “fueling” the indifference and weakness shown by some organizations after the Kakhovka dam burst, News.ro reports.
“Summary of this day. First of all, these were negotiations with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau. Weapons and ammunition. There is a protective package. The coalition of modern fighters and the training of our pilots are progressing noticeably.
The consequences of the Russian terrorist attack in Kakhovka were discussed in detail. Canada is among those who can help us recover from this disaster. We understand each other about the necessary steps. Of course, we are not going to stay away from the disaster that Canada is facing right now. Large-scale fires, colossal environmental losses and danger to people… Ukraine is ready to help extinguish fires if Canada needs such international assistance.
Our Ukrainian sense of international relations is precisely that we should always take care of each other when support is needed. And we will even help. I’m sure it will become a global principle. Interaction, mutual support, mutual strength,” Zelensky said.
He blamed the “shameful indifference” he observed in some organizations after the dam burst in Kakhovka.
“Now, unfortunately, we see that there is simply shameful indifference to the ecocide and human tragedy caused by the Russian terrorist attack in Kakhovka. When international organizations that are supposed to protect life on a global scale do not have time to organize and send a rescue mission to the occupied territory even in a week, when some world players do not even dare to make clear and decisive statements that would Condemn this new Russian war crime, terrorists they simply feed on this weakness of the world, this indifference – it encourages them.
And we have to overcome it. And we will overcome. We pressure and encourage international organizations and international support to come to the part of Kherson region where the occupiers are now,” said the Ukrainian leader.
“Currently, more than 3,000 people have already been evacuated to Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. But this is only a free territory under our control. In the occupied territory, it is possible to help only people in separate territories – Russian terrorists are doing everything to ensure that there are as many victims of natural disasters as possible. Russian bombing continues – even at evacuation points. Russia does not provide real help to the people in the flooded territories – not for propaganda, but for the people…
For all this, the Russian state and the Russian leadership must bear separate, fair and strict responsibility.
And international organizations should work on our sites, which we have not yet vacated. Every life is important – the entire Kherson region, the entire south. Every city and village. We will do everything possible and impossible so that help comes to all our people,” Zelenskyy said. (News.ro)
