German Oleksandr Zverev (27 ATP) reached the semifinals of the Roland Garros tournament, defeating Argentine Thomas Martin Etcheverry (49 ATP).
Oleksandr Zverev will play in the semifinals of Roland Garros
The former world number two Zverev decided the quarterfinal match after four sets, the score 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Although the first set was balanced, Zverev prevailed, winning three games in a row.
The second set, however, belonged to the Argentine, who was much more specific and made sure the game was not over after just three sets.
However, the 2020 US Open finalist came back to the lead of the game and completely controlled the next two sets and managed to qualify for the semi-finals.
For Oleksandr Zverev, the opponent on the way to the final will be determined after the match between the Dane Holger Rune (6 ATP) and the Norwegian Kasper Ruud (4 ATP).
In the other semifinal, world leader Carlos Alcaraz will meet Novak Djokovic.
The Roland Garros tournament takes place from May 28 to June 11, has a total prize pool of 49.6 million euros, and is the 127th tournament. Iga Sviatek and Rafael Nadal (14-time winner in Paris) became the champions of the title.
