Aryna Sabalenko (2 WTA) made a good progress in the 1/8 finals of the Roland Garros tournament, defeating the American Sloane Stevens (30 WTA) with the score 7-6(5), 6-4.

The first set had a rare scenario. Sabalenko got off to a great start and led 5:0. Stephens made an incredible comeback, also winning five games in a row and leveling the score.

Having reached a tie-break, the first set ended with the victory of the player from Belarus with a score of 7-5.

The second set was held on counterattacks until 4-4, after which Sabalenko broke away and advanced to the next round after an hour and 43 minutes of play.

In the quarterfinals, the Australian Open champion will meet Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (192 WTA).
