The return capsule of the Shenzhou-15 spacecraft has landed at its landing site in the Inner Mongolia region of northern China, the state news agency Xinhua reported.

Astronauts Fei Junlong, Deng Qingming and Zhang Lu exited the capsule in “good physical condition,” Xinhua reported on Sunday.

The images showed medical workers in white coveralls and masks wrapping the astronauts in blue blankets and leading them from the arid landing site, where the copper-colored capsule lay draped with red flags.

The trio spent six months on the Tiangong space station, conducting spacewalks and various scientific experiments.

Last week, China sent three more astronauts to the space station, including its first civilian in orbit, as part of its next Shenzhou-16 mission.

The world’s second-largest economy has poured billions of dollars into its military space program in an effort to catch up with the United States and Russia.

Beijing plans to send a manned mission to the moon by 2030 and plans to build a base on the surface of the moon.
