The fan died after falling from the stands at the famous stadium “Monumental” of the Argentine football club “River Plate” during Saturday’s league match against the “Defens and Justice”.
The match was abandoned in the 26th minute and the stadium was evacuated after the incident. According to a statement from the popular Buenos Aires club, there were no cases of violence or interference by third parties.
“A fan fell from the stands of Sivori Alta and died on the spot. The medical service, police and various security services immediately arrived at the scene, ”the club said in a statement.
“The booth where the deceased had a subscription was 90% full. There was no third party intervention at the time of the fall. It was also determined that there was no violence on or around the booth,” Rivera said in a statement.
The club said that the security services and the financial unit, which specializes in mass events, launched an investigation and closed the controversial booth for 24 hours to identify any evidence.
The legendary Estádio Monumental is the preferred venue for the 2030 World Cup Final if FIFA finally chooses South American countries (Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Chile) to host the anniversary World Cup, i.e. 100 years after the first organized in Uruguay in 1930.
