The United States is still gathering information on reports of a drone strike in Moscow, the White House said on Tuesday, reaffirming that Washington does not support attacks inside Russia and is focused on helping Ukraine regain all of its territory.
“We have seen the news and are still gathering information about what happened. As a general principle, we do not support attacks inside Russia,” the spokesman of the White House said, writes Agepres.
He added that Washington is “focused on providing Ukraine with the necessary equipment and training to restore their sovereign territory.” The US president’s representative also mentioned Russian attacks on Kyiv, a city that was hit 17 times by drones and missiles in May.
Russia said eight drones targeted civilian areas in and around Moscow, home to about 21 million people, early Tuesday, but said the drones were either shot down or redirected using special electronic equipment.
The Ukrainian official rejected accusations that Ukraine was directly involved in the drone attack on Moscow, but added that Kyiv was happy about such events. “Obviously, we are pleased with what we have seen and predict an increase in the number of attacks. But, of course, we have nothing to do with this,” said the adviser to the president Mykhailo Podolyak.
