Sorana Kirstea, defeated by Jasmine Paolini at Roland Garros
The first set ended in a tie, and after Sorana took a 5-4 lead, Paolina managed to win three games in a row.
The second set belonged to the Romanian, who perfectly controlled it and turned the match into a decisive one, taking advantage of several mistakes of the Italian.
Unfortunately, it was a completely different scenario in the deciding set with Jasmine Paolini in the lead, losing just two games to Sorani Kirstea and managing to advance to the next round.
The game lasted two hours and 14 minutes.
In the second round, Jasmin Paolini will meet Olga Danilovich (105 WTA).
Sorana and Jasmin have only met once on the WTA, with the Italian winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 in the quarter-finals of the 2021 Portorož tournament (category 250). Then Paolini won a competition in Slovenia (professional title only).
For participation in the main draw of Sorana Kirstya will receive 69,000 euros and 10 points in the WTA singles ranking.
Romania at Roland Garros is also represented by Iryna Begu (against Sara Errani / second round). Ana Bohdan was eliminated in the inaugural round.
