The Ipsos survey, sent out on Tuesday, shows that attention to the education system is currently equally divided among the population aged 18 to 49, but less relevant for the older generation (50-65).
Obviously, the biggest concern is the education system for parents, especially those with children between the ages of 12 and 15, who see assessment exams at risk.
Also, the anxiety is stronger among the population with a higher social status, with a higher education, respectively, with an average and high level of household income.
Defending rights through a strike
73% of Romanians support the way public sector workers demand their rights through a strike. The level of public support is high, and the opinion is equally shared by women and men, in all regions of the country, regardless of the level of education, income or professional field in which they work.
The main opinion shared by Romanians concerns the responsibility of the government to introduce the right measures for the employees of the public system to avoid discontent that could lead to protest movements.
The right to strike is respected and Romanians consider it justified from several points of view: the vision that if they are not properly compensated, we will not have high-performing workers in the public system, long-standing unresolved problems in the system, low pay in the budget sector, respectively improper working conditions.
Romanians elaborate their opinion and, along with supporting the principle of defending their rights through a strike, believe that emergency situations that arise during a strike must be resolved, and the population must be notified in advance.
A small proportion (21%) of the population believes that workers should find another way to resolve grievances other than a strike, and that this form of protest should not be extended to all occupational categories.
Categories that are considered to have the right to demand their rights through a strike
The teaching staff is the professional category most perceived by Romanians as having good reasons to demand their rights through a strike.
Workers in the field of medicine, followed by sanitation and transport, enjoy a favorable assessment of Romanians regarding the demands of the right to strike. At the opposite pole, parliamentarians, as well as employees of ministries, central and local administrations are mentioned
