Chilean Nicolas Jarry (54 ATP) made the surprise of the day at the ATP tournament in Geneva, managing to eliminate the main favorite Casper Ruud (4 ATP) in the quarterfinals.

After three sets, the former US Open and Roland Garros finalist lost 3-6, 7-6(2), 7-5.

If the Norwegian easily won the first set, Jarri managed to take the second set to a tie-break, where he won with a decisive score of 7-2.

The deciding set ended in a draw, but the ending resulted in a victory for the Chilean player over reigning tournament champion Ruud.

The game lasted two hours and 33 minutes.

In the semifinals of the competition, Nicolas Jarry will meet the third favorite German Alexander Zverev (27 ATP).

The Geneva Open takes place from May 21 to 27 on outdoor clay and is part of the ATP 250 category. The total prize money is 562,815 euros, and the title champion is Casper Ruud of Norway.
