“Today we have another lot of property going to the session (the Crimean parliament – no) – large wineries, banking structures, Zelenskyi’s apartment and other property of everyone who supports the anti-Russian regime in Ukraine,” said Aksyonov in a video comment published on his Telegram channel. .

He thanked the Chairman of the State Council of Crimea Volodymyr Konstantinov and parliamentarians for their work on the nationalization of the assets of “Ukrainian oligarchs”.

“As we promised, Russia’s enemies will not make money from Russian Crimea,” Aksyonov added.

Earlier, officials in Crimea – the Ukrainian peninsula illegally annexed by Russia in 2014 – announced that the Zelensky family owns an apartment in the elite residential complex “Imperator” in Livadia, and in December last year announced their intention to nationalize it.

This was announced after the State Council of Crimea made changes to the legislation in October 2022, which allowed property of foreign states and citizens to be recognized as property of the “republic”.

The changes apply to movable and immovable property owned until February 24, 2022.

Zelensky’s apartment in Crimea caused a stir in Ukraine

The process of nationalization began at the end of last fall. The list of assets includes, in particular, the “Zaliv” ship repair plant, the “Novocentr” hypermarket chain, the largest cement producer in the region, several guest houses, a cinema and hundreds of other assets.

In this way, Ukrainian businessmen and politicians, in particular Rinat Akhmetov, Ihor Kolomoiskyi, Serhiy Taruta, Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Nestor Shufrichi, lost their property on the peninsula. Temporary management was introduced at nationalized enterprises.

Zelensky’s property in Crimea sparked controversy in Kyiv after he became president in 2019, when Ukrainian media revealed in his first wealth declaration that his wife, Olena Zelenska, bought the apartment for less than half the market value.

In total, she paid tycoon Oleksandr Buryak for the penthouse $63,893, which is equivalent to $1,263 per square meter, given that the market value of real estate at the time ranged from $3,000 to $4,000 per square meter.
