Simona Halep’s fans demand that the ex-WTA leader stop the persecution by the ITF and ITIA
In a petition signed by 4,500 people (at the time of writing), fans are demanding that Simone stop the harassment from the ITF and ITA.
They also want both institutions to resolve the case of the 2018 Roland Garros and 2019 Wimbledon champions as soon as possible.
The petition was also promoted by the Romanian Tennis Federation: “Fans of Simone Halep initiated an online petition in support of our great champion, whose doping process has been going on for more than eight months. The online petition is posted on the website petitionsite.com. A few days ago, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) asked for an extension of the deadline for Simone to be heard.”
“We, the undersigned, are fans of Simona Halep,
In light of the recent speculation and conflicting media reports regarding Simona Halep’s possible anti-doping rule violations, we are deeply concerned about the delay and lack of transparency in the investigation of these allegations. Given Simona Halep’s position as the best tennis player and the impact she has on tennis, we believe in her, and it is imperative for all of us that this process be handled quickly, rigorously and impartially. Please stop harassing Simona Halep.
In this context, we respectfully request you to take the following measures:
Initiate a thorough and swift investigation into allegations of doping against tennis player Simona Halep. It is in the interests of the sport and all parties involved that this process is completed within a reasonable time and adheres to the principles of law and impartiality;
Ensuring transparency and effective communication of investigation results. It is imperative that the ITF and ITIA provide regular updates and clear information on the progress of the process so that the public and tennis fans can have confidence in the fairness and integrity of the decisions made.
We, the signatories of this petition, express our doubts about the commitment of the ITF and ITIA to uphold the principles of fair play, honesty and transparency in the case of Simona Halep,” reads the online petition initiated by fans of Simona.
The ITIA wants both cases involving Simona Halep to be heard at the same time
Simona was provisionally suspended after testing positive for Roxadustat at the 2022 US Open, and the ITIA recently accused the former WTA leader of irregularities in her biological passport (ABP).
According to Express.co.uk, the ITIA said it had postponed the trial scheduled for May 28 because it wanted both cases to be heard on the same day.
I proposed that both charges be dealt with at the same hearing to avoid repeated hearings. For this to happen, we want all parties involved, including the Tribunal, to have sufficient time to process the large amount of evidence in this case.
Ultimately, the decision rests with the court. Simona Halep will also have the opportunity to present her arguments before the Tribunal.” ITIA claims.

The ITIA says a doping review can take up to a year
In a statement on its official website, the ITIA (not the International Tennis Integrity Agency) outlined the steps it takes in the case of an athlete who tests positive, such as Simona Halep’s: Test/samples sent to lab/analytics. results reported / results analyzed / contact with player / suspension / athlete’s charge / player’s response / player fully admits / player only partially admits / decision and sanction / player objects / court / tribunal decision and sanction / appeal.
- The news that Simona Halep was temporarily suspended for doping appeared on Friday, October 21, 2022.
Know:
- Simona Halep is temporarily suspended from tennis due to a positive test for Roxadustat (conducted during the US Open 2022).
- Simona’s case will be heard by Sport Resolutions, an independent court in London that hears doping cases in white sport.

- It will be recalled that the maximum suspension that Halep could receive is 4 years.
