The French Senate approved a bill to create new casinos in municipalities where historic horse races are held. Until now, the opening of casinos was allowed only in resorts or in some large cities.

Towns with an equestrian heritage will soon have their own roulette wheels, slot machines and blackjack tables. The French Senate, by a show of hands and in the first reading, approved the draft law, which provides for a new departure from the principle of banning gambling. This text will allow the establishment of casinos in municipalities where horse racing has historically been held, in particular Saumur (Maine-et-Loire) and Arnac-Pompadour (Corez).
